#003   (SOLD)

#003 was a new type of body.  Old Oak flooring over a Douglas fir base.  It was pretty heavy but looked good. I did a light honey oak stain with a bit of a dark burst around the edges and then finished it with wipe-on varnish.  It was built with a Fender maple neck and Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners. It started life with a set of US Fender Tele pickups and a black pickguard.  A  nearby musician loved the look but wanted a Jeff Beck Humbucker in the neck so I had to balance the sound out with a Symour Duncan 1/4 lb. lead pickup in the bridge.  He then saw a licence plate pick guard and off went the black one for a 1971 plate.
