#034 Industrial Revolution (Sold)
Jorge S. called from Chicago and wanted to see what I had in stock and talk about a custom build. I had just finished #033 so he was looking at it. I told him I was doing a very different type of guitar and I'd send him a photo, so I did. He said,"to bad it's taken, I Love it". When I told him it wasn't spoken for he immediately wanted to send a deposit to hold it. His deposit had a note on it, "Metal Clad Industrial Revolution Cruzcaster".
So that's the name of #034. It's different. I wanted to put a Stratocaster headstock on a Tele body and when I did I noticed all of the area on that bigger headstock to do something with. That's where the metal work started out and from there it spread like a good disease. The head has some silver plated copper, blackened silver, brass washers and copper screws. Wow! I was loving it.
Then came the body. Some embossed nickel, some tarnished silver, some acid etched silver, with copper screws on the nickel and etched steel screws on the silver. All carefully hand cut and filed for a good fit
I put a Retrotron pickup in the neck and a Fender alnico 3 hot lead in the bridge. All done. Not quite. How could I put normal knobs on the MCIR Cruzcaster. In the middle of the night I had an idea and developed it a bit through the rest of the night. In the morning I went to the shop and found some copper tubing and some brass caps and made the knobs. All done. Not quite. A few metal adornments around the strap pins and input jack.
All done......for now. It's on its way to Chicago to hang out with Jorge.
Thanks Jorge, It was a blast doing this with you.
