076 Barn Find (Sold)
This license plate was the beginning of this guitar. My son Dan was over in my shop one day and pulled an old plate out of the pile. It was a BC plate from 1976 which is the year he was born. It also had 04 on it which was the day he was born. Amazingly enough it even had his and his wife's initials on it. I put it aside and we talked on and off for months about how his custom build should look. As I started the build, the serial number for his guitar was also #076.
He wanted the “barn-find” theme since he had bought an old Porsche that had been in such a situation. I made the body to look like old weathered barn boards and all of the metal has a heavy relic finish. He supplied all of the old car parts and we talked over the phone a lot and then I finally finished it up at my friends house who actually lives on the old Homestead farm. It has a VIN plate from a Porsche 912 on the headstock, the color code plate is used for the input jack, original aluminum lug nuts for the control knobs and a valve stem for the 3-way switch. It’s a beauty.
