#038 Baritone (Sold)
Cody came all the way to my house to talk about a “special build” that he wanted, and boy was it special. First of all he wanted a baritone Strat style guitar. The neck is five frets longer than a normal neck and is tuned five half notes lower. It is like dropping your capo down instead of up. We probably went back and forth for a month deciding on pickups and body finish. He wanted something with a maroon colour and a blue plate for the pick guard and some shotgun shells. He also wanted a huge choice of sounds so we put a SD Lipstick in the neck and a SD vintage stack in the bridge. The middle pickup is what makes it unique.
For any “Geeks” reading this, it is a Seymour Duncan P-Rail. The P-Rail is a single pickup that has a P90 and a Rail (or blade) pickup all in one. Then we put in a Triple Shot controller so he could switch those two functions from series to parallel and a few other things. The non-geeks are probably shaking their heads, but that’s ok. It produces a massive variation of sounds.
When I finished it I wondered why anyone would want such a “weird” guitar. Then I plugged it in. Wow. With the low E string the thickness of a bass guitar string this thing has some unusual and great sounds.
On boxing day Cody showed up to my house again and took his baby home
